Possibilities of using television programmes and shows in practical activities at the first grade of primary school

This thesis deals with the topic of the use of television programmes and shows in the teaching of practical activities at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part is focused on the characteristics of a pupil of the younger school age, inquiry-based instruction and teaching, and the goals and concepts of primary technical literacy. The preparatory studies also discuss the technical areas of the Framework Curriculum for Primary Education, the cross-cutting theme of Media Education and characterise selected television educational programmes and shows. In the practical part, there are five themes which are processed, including didactic documentation, into the form of original preparations for teaching at the first grade of primary school. The effectiveness of some of the themes has been verified.
The rise of television political satire in the USA, the Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium

The work "Rise of television political satire in the USA, Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium" maps the development of television political satire in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic in the period from 2000 to the present days with a look at the history of this genre in each respected country. Special attention is focused on the programs that had the greatest influence on the current form of this genre and influenced it the most. The first part of the work presents the history of television political satire in each individual country and introduces their current representatives of this genre, which have the greatest influence in the modern day. This section also introduces the obstacles of their cultural environment in which the shows were created to provide a more holistic view on obstacles that these shows have had to overcome in today's media world. In the second part, selected shows will be analysed from a technical and formal point of view and attention will also be focused on their hosts. The role of host in these shows is one of the most important elements which determine their future success. Political-news satire in The Daily Show

The aim of the Bachelor thesis "Political-news satire in The Daily Show" is to map evolution of political and news satire in TV in United States of America with emphasis to evolution and impact of the cult show The Daily Show, which is airing on Comedy Central channel. It tries to map structure and evolution of the show throughout the whole history of the show. After general introduction to the history of political satire in television before The Daily Show was broadcast, the thesis focuses on the most prominent personalities who worked as a staff of the show and had the biggest impact on formation of content and the message of The Daily Show. Particular attention is paid to the main era of Jon Stewart's role as a host, where the show has experienced a period of the greatest fame and has influenced the future of the political-news satire to the present. However, it also examines the main changes in recent history of the show and the changes brought by the new moderator Trevor Noah. In the last part, the work focuses on the influence that the program and its prominent personalities have had on the current wave of increased interest and popularity of political- satire not only in the United States, but all around the world and examines the most famous figures of contemporary political-news satire.
Contemporary media content through the eyes of child prosumers

This thesis contains a qualitative analysis of the Czech children's television program, which the main topic is the presentation of other cultures. The aim is to answer a question, of how other cultures are presented to the children audience within this particular program. The key terms are viewed in the context of the concept of culture and cultural identity as defined by social anthropologists, that is, as a set of meanings and practices that are learned. The findings are also understood and compared to multicultural education, in which a culturally standard approach is seen as the prevailing approach in the researched TV program. Attention is also paid to the representation of children in the media content, and to the structure of children's media content. The qualitative analysis brought the resulting scheme entitled as Strategy of Children's Knowledge, which defines the three phases way in which individual areas and different cultures are presented to the audience. The first introduction is the first step when the viewer gets acquainted with emotionally and ideologically unpainted facts. Saturday Night Live Behind the Curtain

The aim of the Bachelor thesis "Behind the Curtain of Saturday Night Live" is to map general principles that have created an American sketch show Saturday Night Live. The main emphasis is put on creation, structure and protagonists of this television show. Last but not least, the author deals with the big socio-political themes incorporated in the show by its creators. The author proposes three main research questions. Question no. 1: What is the casting procedure for Saturday Night Live? Question no. 2: What is the structure of Saturday Night Live's creative week? Question no. 3: How successful were the individual SNL teams? The author is using qualitative content analysis method. The theoretical part focuses on television entertainment, the role of television in the society and role of television in the USA. The practical part focuses on the creation of Saturday Night Live, the casting process and the overall structure of the show. Additionally, the thesis takes a look on the individual teams, star guests and it also examines influences of socio-political themes on this TV show.
